The Land Mobile Application and Evaluation Process

Before you can create an on-line land mobile application, you will need a Web Profile for access to the secure areas of our site.

From the main menu, the Land Mobile Applications link provides access to the forms that let you create new applications and show all applications you created previously. For help on creating and submitting an application, refer to the Overview of Steps. Your starting point is the list of Land Mobile Applications. From this list, you can create new applications, or monitor the progress of an application. The Application Status shows the current status, and the Application Status Date shows the date that this status was last updated.

When you are in the process of creating an application, your application is "Not Submitted". You can create, edit, and delete any application components, or delete the application itself. When you are ready to provide you information for processing, you submit the application. A verification procedure ensures that your application meets certain minimum requirements.

When you submit the application, its status changes to "Submitted", and the application cannot be edited. At this point, if you need to make further changes, you can "unsubmit" the application using a link in the Application Navigator.

An evaluating officer from Industry Canada will then retrieve your application for electronic processing. When the officer retrieves your application, its status changes to "Under Study". At that point, on the Application Summary, we provide the name of that officer, and a link to send e-mail regarding your application. As the officer reviews your requirements, you may be contacted to provide additional information.

Once an application is "Under Study", you cannot "unsubmit" the application. Contact the evaluating officer to provide any changes or to cancel application processing.

When the officer has finished processing your application, the results are indicated by the status of your application. Typically, your application will either be "Authorized" or "Rejected". The time this process takes will vary according to the complexity of the application, whether all information was included with it, and whether or not international co-ordination is required. You can obtain more information on our service standards by contacting an Industry Canada office.
